Those who must be screened have to be cleared before any work on school grounds, then wear the ID badge they receive at all times on campus, and each vendor employee must provide a copy of an I-9.

When Lafayette County buyers must bid it out

The Lafayette County School District requests sealed bids for any purchase of materials, equipment or services above the limits set by State Board of Education rules, unless it buys through a state contract, approved online procurement or another exemption, and an item or group of similar items expected to pass that total during the fiscal year is bid too. Quotations are obtained from at least three sources before a purchase order is issued, as state law or regulation requires.

The Purchasing Agent keeps a list of potential bidders by commodity or service, including every firm that asked to be on it, and mails each request for bids to the firms listed for that commodity; a firm that does not respond to three requests in a row may be dropped. (Lafayette County School Board Policy 7.14, Purchasing Policies and Bidding, revised February 17, 2026) checked Oct 31, 2026

Where Lafayette County posts bid results

Lafayette County School District bids are received in the purchasing office and opened in public, with the Purchasing Agent reading aloud each bidder's name and amount, and the tabulation is signed by the Purchasing Agent and the School Board employee present. The district gives notice of its decision by posting the bid tabulation where the bids were opened, or by certified mail.

Anyone adversely affected must file a written notice of protest with the School Board within 72 hours of the posting or notice, then a formal written protest within ten days. (Lafayette County School Board Policies 7.14, Purchasing Policies and Bidding, and 7.142, Bid Protest Resolution) checked Oct 31, 2026
